I bought this TV when it first came out last year for around 600. I paid too much but I have been very satisfied with it so far. Now that I have had a year to play with it here are my findings.

1. A lot of companies dont care about putting out a good 26″ LCD, but this one was a great example of a solid small screen. Excellent picture and picture calibration tools. It also has a great set of inputs for such a small screen size. Try finding a good tv at this size that has 3 HDMI and 2 Component inputs. It also has an S video/composite.

2. It works well as a pc monitor. I have used it as a pc monitor for two extended periods of time and I love it. I have an old pc with a decent video card and i have to problem viewing hd content off the net or regular content.

3. The speakers on the system are pretty weak, but not as bad as some reviews claim. I find that even at its lowest level it is still pretty loud. If you expect great sound out of a set this small, your just asking too much.

4. I hate the glossy finish. I hate cleaning this thing. LCDS suck up dust, but this thing is too much. I know everyone loves the glossy sleak look, but id go for a dull suface on the rest of the tv.

5. 720P is not crap. This tv does very well when connected to hd cable and sat.
Comparing it directly too a 40″ 1080P lcd the image difference is quite noticable, but when compared to other 720s at any size, it out shines them, I like it much better than even this years Samsung 26″.

6. Price i paid was too much and if your going to buy it off the net or on clearance just dont pay more than 300.

I plan on getting a new tv next year, but this is definetly staying around. Its perfect as a bedroom or secondary tv, and it will be the best looking small tv you will see.

I was looking for a basic flat screen of moderate size. This TV has great picture quality and has worked very well for over a year now. The sound quality is not quite as dazzling but very acceptable. I would highly recommend it.

I purchased this TV from Amazon 1.5 years ago. I thought it was a good TV for 0. Now, after a year and a half, it no longer turns on. Unfortunate for me the warranty is only for 1 year. Now if I want it fixed I have to mail this TV back to Samsung to get it fixed and I have to pay for it. Not cool in my eyes!!! Previously I had a Panasonic TV purchased in 1988 that still works and has NEVER had a problem. I thought Samsung was all about quality?? The help at Samsung was apologetic, but what good does that do me. Fine— I will never buy another Samsung product–Cool? Samsung bites!!!

I am able to review this TV because of the savings Amazon provided over in town pricing on another TV we purchased through them, the Samsung LN-T4069F (you will also notice some cut and paste of the review I did for that TV as many of Samsungs feature set are the same on both TVs). The savings alone on our other purchase made this purchase possible.

I did the mandatory research (as most of you have) before purchasing this TV and am extremely happy with my purchase. Having the LN-T4069F for a bit allowed us to have our faith in Samsung confirmed.

I was worried about the shipping process (and damage horror stories) on this unit as it was shipped UPS (vs. Eagle on the LN-T4069F). However the worries were unfounded. The unit arrived in perfect condition.

The TV is excellent for this category. The picture is awesome in HD. SD does not look very good compared to a CRT, but for a 26″, it is not nearly as bad looking as a 40″. I am one of those people that refuses to stretch a 4:3 image to widescreen so the size of the 4:3 image was important to me, and on this TV (because I found no specs or mention of this on any web site) the non stretched 4:3 picture is 13″ H, 18″W which is 22″ Diagonal. This is secondary TV for us, so unlike the need for 120Hz on the LN-T4069F for gaming and watching motorsports, we chose this standard LCD since budget was an issue. Although I have not played video games on it, there is the normal LCD motion blur in fast moving action, to be expected but not as bad as I thought without the 120Hz feature.

The sound is good for TV of this size. You have decent stereo separation, and the TruSurround XT does a nice job. Small speakers like these do have decent sound, nice for built ins, but don’t expect any bass.

Cons:
Unless it is a hidden feature that I have yet to find, you cannot custom name your inputs. Even my 27″ Panasonic TV purchase in 2000 allowed you to custom name your inputs to whatever you like. On this TV you have only presets choices (such as HD STB, Game, DVD, etc). You can’t input things such as Xbox 360, Cox HD Cable and the like. It is hard to believe a feature like this missing, but I won’t downgrade the overall score of the TV for something so small that really has no bearing on the quality of build and picture of this unit.

The base does not provide any swivel or adjustments at all, it is a fixed unit.

I purchased this for a bedroom and have it on a wall bracket. It was easy to install, has good sound for it’s size and the picture is great.
Only comment is on some older TV shows the backgrounds can be a bit too dark. I’ve tried playing with the setting but it doesn’t help much. I would recommend this Samsung. It’s a good TV at a great price.

I use this for both as a tv and a pc monitor and I have to say that it is truly exceptional. The picture quality is outstanding. Its menu is also very extensive which is a plus (because you can customize it). I put on some bunny ears to see how the free over the air channels would work, and the picture was really fuzzy like I was watching analog again or something…but that could have been because of the antenna…I plan on buying a new one and seeing how it works..Setting the tv up on the stand also was a bit challenging because the instructions are VERY vague…it basically leaves you to your own imagination. I had to have someone help me and it still took us at least an hour to figure everything out when if the instructions were better…it would have only taken maybe 10 minutes. I also noticed the turn on time is a bit slow. It takes about 10 seconds I would say…and that sounds fast…but just count it out loud and then you will know what im talking about. The clear bezel really adds a sense of classiness and slickness to it and so does the touch sensitive buttons. The slimness makes it very light so I can move it around my desk with ease. It doesn’t swivel but it makes up for that in its lightness because you can just slide it yourself which ever direction you want it. Over all though I am very pleased with my transaction.

Being a college kid and constantly striving to make sure that every dollar spent, is definately worth it, I did weeks of research before coming to the conclusion of purchasing this television. It may be one of the cheaper models that Samsung makes, but personally I believe it so far has proven to be a worth-while purchase. I have owned the TV for about a month now and don’t regret it one single bit. Currently, I do not use it as a TV to watch TV, so I can offer no insight to what its compatibility is with standard, mid-western cable service. However, I can review it on its use as a computer monitor and video game television.

As a computer monitor: This television provides crystal clear graphics on computers that can transmit the proper screen format. The computer that I have hooked up to it is a 2006 Dell XPS 400 that originally came with a 19″ Flat-screen LCD display in 1280×1024 resolution, so I was not positive on whether or not this hookup would work with the 1360×768 resolution of the TV. Following the owners manual that comes with the television was very helpful in setting this whole process up; however, the use of certain display programs such as ATI Catalyst Control Center may be required in order to change the output to the TV in the correct format. After finally setting everything up, it looks and works like a dream as a monitor. I have watched programming from Hulu, YouTube HD, and other video websites and this TV allows for the full potential of hi-res videos across the internet to substitute for my lack of HD cable service. In fact, as I write this review, I, a very near-sighted man, am typing 6 feet away from the screen and could probably still sit a foot or two back more and strain very little to see what I’m typing. It may be overkill as a computer monitor, but nothing feels better than typing from a futon instead of a computer desk.

As a Gaming TV: Currently pleased with the results, but have not yet hooked up HDMI from my Xbox 360 to reach its full potential. I am using just the component connection that comes with the TV and games such as COD 4: Modern Warfare and Forza Motorsport 3 look stunning. The Xbox 360 originally wants to transmit in 720p, but you can change this manually to 1080i depending on what your preference is between the two. The TV, only 60hz processing speed, does a great job of keeping up with all of the gaming action and explosions with no noticeable blurring of images, so it works perfectly for those faster paced games.

The feature I like the most about the TV is its numerous amount of hookups available in the back. As seen in pictures above, the TV allows for many different electronics to be hooked into. As of right now, I only have a Xbox 360, Xbox, and computer hooked up to it, with the audio out going to the high power stereo I own and still have many other hookups available. Panasonic may have a less expensive TV on Amazon for 26″, but it does not have half of the hookups as this Samsung and does not allow for RCA audio-out. So if you are just an entry level LCD TV buyer who does not plan on hooking a ton of electronics up for multi-purpose, the panasonic would be fine, but for those like me, this TV offers many more options to play around with. The picture adjustment is very easy to operate and can help anyone achieve the picture quality they desire whether they want the deep blacks or a little more lighted picture. Customization is almost necessary since Samsung only has provided three picture presets which do not do the TV justice.

Addressing the proposed “squeal” that some people have experienced: Yes, I have noticed that the TV does make what I call a “humming”, but it is hardly noticable. The only time that it can be heard is when the room is completely silent and still one has to listen very tentatively to hear it. In comparison to standard televisions which have a much higher “humming” noise, this is nothing. Maybe some of the individuals writing reviews received bad units and this sound is more noticeable, but that is the risk one takes in buying anything, some products can be defective, its the nature of mass manufacturing.

I gave this product a Five star rating because it is very affordable and a great value for those on a tight budget, its versatility to interface with other electronics, and its ease of setup for picture quality and helpful owners manual.

I purchased this TV for my bedroom and it is a really great product. Picture quality is very nice and is just the right size for a smaller room like a bedroom. If you are using it for games, like I am however, the HDMI input for the 360 produces a jagged picture in game because the native resolution of this TV is slightly higher than 720p. I suggest using a VGA cable for the Xbox 360 so that there is no scaling of the image. I know from experience that his works slightly better.

Purchased this TV (thankful for the Warehouse Club’s return policy) in time to watch the last of the Winter Olympics. The setup to the existing DirecTV HD DVR box was easy, since it was replacing a similar but older Panasonic 26″ set. First, the positives about the set. I have a limited space in the bedroom because of a built-in arrangement, so a 26″ is about the largest class of TV that will fit in the space. It’s light and nimble, east to carry and place into that space, and the on-screen setup was straightforward if perhaps a bit lacking in particulars (doesn’t allow manual fine-tuning adjustments to size, which I’ll cover momentarily). Picture quality was very good for a 26″ set, though I noticed negligible difference between the 720p set it replaced and this as a 1080p set. I’m told this is mostly due to size, and truly matters above 32″. Now for the negatives. (1) It “feels” cheap. The lightness and sheer amount of plastic in the set is both a positive and negative, so the controls and stand mount felt cheap. Given the price, I didn’t expect much, but did expect a somewhat higher grade of quality. (2) Sound. Tinny. Like listening to an old transistor radio. I had to over-boost the bass setting to help it along, but it never came close to matching the Panasonic. The bottom-mount speakers are too small and underpowered to do much more than the sound they produce, which is in a word, terrible. (3) Size adjustments. No matter what setting I tried, it left black bands at the top and bottom of the screen in HD mode. Checked all my settings, read the manual, found no way of ridding myself of it other than to do “Wide-Zoom” mode, which cuts off the left and right sides of the picture, and part of the on-screen DirecTV menus. All-in-all, it’s a somewhat passable set for the 0 range, but you’d do as well if not better with a 720p set at this size that produced better sound and picture adjustments (the Sony Bravia KD26L5000 I found on closeout was far superior in all aspects). For a budget conscious consumer, this might work and be passable if sound quality wasn’t a concern but BlueRay was, and space was a premium. I was happy to return this to place of purchase, and would think twice about a Samsung in the future.
